T. Ruth Westfern calls the Pacific Northwest home, where she enjoys meandering in wild spaces. Her art explores various perspectives of the natural world, in particular ones that are really really close up.
She created art throughout childhood, but just sort of stopped in adulthood. In her mid-thirties, she was gifted a macro photography lens and promptly wandered about taking pictures in gardens and local parks. It brought joy to see the world from a new perspective!
Today, T. Ruth Westfern enjoys toting a collection of lenses on camping and hiking trips to photograph tidbits of wild spaces. These photos are then used as reference for her oil paintings.
A self-taught artist, her paintings are inspired by the images she captures throughout the Western United States.
