Portrait of Artist in blue hat in front of bee painting

T. Ruth Westfern calls the Pacific Northwest home. Her art aims to reveal various perspectives of the natural world, in particular ones that are really close up.

T. Ruth Westfern created art throughout childhood, but just sort of stopped in adulthood. In her thirties, she was gifted a macro photography lens and promptly wandered about taking pictures. It brought so much joy to see the world from a new perspective! Today, she brings a collection of lenses on her walks to capture tidbits of wild spaces. Once home, she attempts to recreate on canvas the feelings of wonder, joy, peace and appreciation from being in nature.

A self-taught artist who has attended the occasional sip and paint evening and won one art contest in elementary school, her paintings are inspired by the images she captures throughout the Western United States.
